At Konohagakure's Academy, instructor Iruka Umino oversees the transformation practise of three of his students when Suzume arrives and raises the alarm that there may be some missing-nin hiding within the Academy and that police shinobi should be there shortly. As Iruka tells his students that because of this, they could not leave classes Lee arrives dressed as a "sexy teacher-in-training" which creeps Iruka out. Overhearing some of the students, Lee declares that he is none other than the shinobi who can use neither ninjutsu nor genjutsu — which leads the students to enquire how exactly how it was that he graduated from the Academy. Lee simply tells them that if they wore the tights and worked hard then they too could accomplish the seemingly impossible. This prompts the students to rip his jumpsuit to shreds telling him that dead-lasts like them could never amount to anything. As Team Guy heads outside, Lee tells his team-mates that those students reminded him of himself which was why he wanted to help them. A scream is suddenly heard outside and Team Guy rushes off it investigate it. Confronted by the missing Kusagakure-nin whose attire consisted of spiky protrusions everywhere — which Lee and Tenten realised was one of the most hard-to-kick shinobi attire design. Lee goes on the offensive nonetheless determined to set a good example for the students. Thinking that by attaching explosive tags to his sandals, he could use them as projectiles to get around the Kusa-nin outfit. This however backfires and Lee's foot explodes sending him flying towards the Kusa-nin whose outfit rips his own to shreds. Rebounding quickly, Lee decides to use the Front Lotus as another strategy, but mid-spin he sees Sakura Haruno and he ends up spinning towards her. Sakura punches Lee away and his attack fails. Neji Hyūga is having no better luck with the shinobi and his outfit is also ripped to shreds — much to Tenten's dismay, who wonders if it is a new trend. Seeing this the Academy students confirm their belief that nothing good came of working hard, Iruka who had overheard this however, tells them that they were wrong and that he knew people who had become strong through sheer hard work but before he is able to finish his statement, Lee is sent crashing into him by enemy shinobi. Seconding Iruka's words, Lee seeming opens the Eight Gates and uses the Leaf Gale technique to attack the Kusa-nin — the flames of which form an advertisement for the anime of the series that will be released on April 3 — which leads Tenten to ask if he was advertising it at such a time. The next day at the Academy, the dead-lasts are seen decked out in jumpsuits with new determination. They seemingly get into a fight amongst themselves and by the time they greet Iruka, their clothes are in tatters as well.
