Hinata Hyūga (日向 ヒナタ, Hyūga Hinata) is one of the main supporting characters of the series. She is a chunin-level kunoichi of Konohagakure's Hyūga Clan as well as a member of Team Kurenai.

Appearance[]

Hinata has straight dark blue hair, which she has in a hime-style haircut, that reaches her lower back, while the short strands that frame her face is shoulder-length. Like the rest of her clan, she has fair skin and customary Byakugan which, when activated, stimulates the veins and arteries immediately around her eyes to protrude much more prominently.

Hinata's attire is comprised of a loose fitting, lavender and cream hooded-jacket with lavender cuffs with navy blue pants and black, low-heeled sandals. She also wears her forehead protector around her neck. The cuffs of the jacket are rolled up to the middle of her forearms.

Personality[]

Hinata Hyūga is very shy. She is so shy that when the person she likes, Naruto, addresses her or pays attention to her, she usually goes bright red in the face and faints. She talks in a soft, high-pitched voice and is not very confident about her abilities.

Abilities[]

Although she was deemed a failure in Part I by her father, Hiashi, Hinata's new-found resolve enabled her to greatly sharpen her skills, changing her father's opinion about her and steadily make her abilities develop and blossom to ultimately become a chūnin.

Byakugan[]

Hinata Byakugan 2

Hinata's Byakugan.

As a member of the Hyūga clan, Hinata possesses the Byakugan: a dōjutsu kekkei genkai which grants her near 360° vision, x-ray vision and the ability to see the chakra pathway system. Hinata can focus her Byakugan's sight to drastically increase its range in one direction to at least 10 kilometres.

Taijutsu[]

As a member of the Hyūga clan, Hinata specializes in close-range unarmed combat. She fights with the signature combat style of her clan: the Gentle Fist, which takes advantage of the Byakugan's ability to see opponent's chakra pathway system and their unique ability to expel chakra from any point on their body. It allows her to cause severe internal trauma with minimal external force as it surgically injects chakra into an opponent's chakra network to cause damage.

Hinata has shown to develop her own techniques, the Protecting Eight Trigrams Sixty-Four Palms, a technique that can take advantage of her great flexibility and coordination to both attack and defend at the same time. She could also collaborate with Neji to use the Eight Trigrams Palms Infinite Revolving Heaven, which is a stronger variation of the Protectig of the Eight Trigrams Sixty-Four Palms and Eight Trigrams Palms Revolving Heaven. Hinata learned the Eight Trigrams Thirty-Two Palms, a minor version of one of the Hyūga clan's most powerful techniques: the Eight Trigrams Sixty-Four Palms.

Hinata's has also developed her own original arsenal, including the use of the Gentle Step Twin Lion Fists. In the manga, she was able to momentarily overwhelm Hanabi during their sparring match. She has also shown to combine this technique with the Eight Trigrams Thirty-Two Palms.

Neji and Hinata[]

Episode 9[]

Part 1: Neji's Cousin, Hinata[]

Lee challenges Hinata to a match, thinking her to be Neji. After Neji appears and attacks Lee for assualting Hinata, Tenten mentions how close Hinata and Neji are. Hinata agrees, but is soon accidentaly hit by an attack from Neji. After being hit, Hinata runs away from the scene, Team Guy to follow her. They find her at the Hyūga Clan's estate training. Lee attempts to cheer her up with Guy, but is met with Hinata's Protecting Eight Trigrams Sixty-Four Palms. After being hit, Lee mention how Neji and Hinata's appearances are not the only thing they have in common, their power is similar as well. Neji explains that he had promised Hinata that he would train with her after and guesses that to be the reason of her upset demeanor. Team Guy decides to help Hinata train and is soon joined by Shino and Kiba with Akamaru, Hinata's teammates.

Guy, Lee, Tenten, Kiba and Akamaru, and Shino stand around Hinata offer their aid in her training. Believing it to be six against one, Hinata becomes shocked, but Guy clarifies, explaining that they will each give advice and battle Hinata one by one. Guy advises Hinata to wear the same green spandex suit he wears, causing Neji to destroy the spandex suit. After doing this, Neji notices Akamaru preparing to urinate. He orders Kiba and Akamaru to go outside to do such things. In an attempt to move Akamaru, Kiba raises Akamaru and prepares to rush him outside, but his actions are too late and Akamaru urinates on Hinata's head, causing Neji to attack Akamaru as he did with Guy's suit. Shino prepares to aid Hinata in her training, but his bugs begin to swarm around the urination that had landed on Hinata previously. Once more, Neji attacks Hinata's disturbances.

Lee decides to help Hinata defeat her worst weakness: fainting after seeing Naruto. To do this, everyone, excluding Neji and Tenten, wears wigs resembling Naruto's hairstyle. Seeing this, Neji attacks everyone, sending them flying towards Hinata, knocking her down. Hinata flees the scene as she did previously, Neji chasing after her.

In the bushes in hiding, two shinobi from Kusagakure watch the entire scene. As Hinata strolls around Konoha, she sees what she believes to be Naruto training with his Shadow Clone Technique. However, they are soon revealed to be the same shinobi from earlier with backup. Hinata defeats several of her enemies, but soon grows tired. Before she is hurt by the enemy's leader, Neji appears and blocks his attack. The rest of Hinata's friends appear soon after and begin to fight with the foes. After defeating the enemy ninja, the real Naruto appears, shocking Hinata and causing her to faint.
