Sai (サイ, Sai) is one of the members of Team Kakashi and also the replacement of Sasuke Uchiha.
Appearance[]
Sai has black eyes and short, black hair, and he possesses a very pale complexion. He is usually seen carrying a small backpack with his brush, scrolls and ninja ink in it.
Sai's typical attire consists of a short black jacket with red straps, a high-collared midriff shirt, black pants, shinobi sandals and gloves with his index and thumb fingers exposed.
Personality[]
Sai, who has suppressed his emotions in the past, is usually seen with no distinct expression on his face. He calmly views his surroundings and does not react palpably to anything in particular. Tenten has described him with having an "amazing poker face".[1]
Due to his lack of social experience, Sai is often left in awkward conversations. He is unmindful of his own remarks and their effects to others, even though he might have been offensive. He has an inability to discern between a rude statement and an honest statement, which is indicated when he casually insults Lee's thick eyebrows.[2]
Abilities[]
Due to fact that Sai is amongst the most powerful in the Konoha ANBU organization root, it is expected that he possesses great skill in ninjutsu as well as taijutsu.

Ink Techniques[]

With his artistic talents, Sai is able to use Super Beast Imitating Drawing where he can make his drawings come to life by drawing onto a scroll he carries with him and applying chakra to his ink. Sai typically creates giant birds to transport himself or others, lion-like monsters for attack, snakes for restraining enemies, and mice to scout an area.[3] He is also able to create his drawings from any other surface, such as Lee's eyebrows to use Super Eyebrows Imitating Drawing.
Plot[]
Similar to Yamato's role in the spin-off, Sai is either by himself or with Team Kakashi as a cameo.
Episode 48[]
Yamato Gets a Mission[]
Tsunade assigns Sai, Tenten and Neji on a mission to infiltrate the hideout of some rogue ninjas and retrieve a scroll containing a forbidden jutsu which they stole. Unfortunately, Shizune's pet pig, Tonton, could not hold seeing Neji's eyes, accidentally kicked a book from Tsunade's table and hit Neji in the eyes. As a result, he could not join the mission which leaves Tsunade to assign Lee, the only available shinobi, as his substitute.
At Konohagakure's entrance gate, the three are gathered with Lee wearing the Anbu Black Ops outfit but Lee's tendency to be noticeable in any situations makes Sai put down Lee's claim of him being stealthy with the suit. He then informs them that Captain Yamato will be meeting the three of them after he finishes his mission. Sai would frequently make immature and uncouth jokes towards Lee and TenTen throughout the mission.

Once they have trespassed the hideout, Sai would try to locate his enemy through Ink technique. Sai heard enemies approaching and Lee attempted to deceive the two ninjas with an oden stand and "Mecha Tenzone", a mechanical giant resembling Yamato but failed. Sai drew snakes with his jutsu to tie them up. Sai mentioned that the ink was completely used up. Sai and Lee interrogated them and if failed, they would tickle them with a creepy expression, as Yamato usually does, until they confess where the scroll was located. The scroll in the hidden room was a Water Prison Technique trap which trapped Lee inside and some other rogue ninjas came to rescue their two companions. Sai used Lee's eyebrows for he has no ink to hold off the rogue ninjas and was able to retrieve the scroll from the enemies. Yamato arrived and came back to Konohagakure with them, using Lee's eyebrows. After their mission, Neji meets them but Lee accidentally hits his eyes with his eyebrows.
