Kakuzu (角都, Kakuzu) is a member of Akatsuki and the partner of Hidan.
Appearance[]
Kakuzu has brown skin and a cloth mask that obscures most of his face. His eyes are red with green pupils. He also has numerous stitches covering his limbs and four masks on his back each containing an extra heart. He also wears the Akatsuki cloak, which is black with red clouds.
Personality[]
Kakuzu as a treasurer.
Kakuzu is obsessed with money to the point of being willing to kill other Akatsuki members to make claims on bounties they may have on themselves. He is also the Akatsuki's self proclaimed Treasurer. Kakuzu despises his partner Hidan and insults him when given a chance.
Plot[]
In chapter 16 of the manga, Kakuzu and Hidan arrived at the Akatsuki hideout where he threatens Lee and Tenten, who are disguised as a new recruit, for potential bounties they may have. Lee comments on some of the threads growing out of Kakuzu's arm as "really long armpit hair" which angers him. A massive riot breaks out among the Akatsuki which destroys the hideout and allows Tenten and Lee to escape unharmed. In the anime version of these events, Kakuzu and the other members gang up on Deidara for not revealing Lee was a spy.
In the Rock Lee Springtime of Youth Special Collaboration Chapter, Kakuzu, alongside Pain, Deidara, Tobi, and Kisame, attempted to steal the Naruto SD Powerful Shippuden Game from Naruto and Lee. The main reason being they couldn’t afford to buy copies for all the members. They challenged Naruto and Lee to a game of Smash and Shield Rock, Paper, Scissors. Kakuzu did not play. The Akatsuki lost, but ended up buying copies of the game for the members anyway, much to the chagrin of Kakuzu’s cheapness.
In chapter 27 of the manga, the entire Akatsuki organization went on a summer vacation because Pain believed it could bestow unbelievable power. Kakuzu started a Beach House to make some money for the organization while on vacation. A poster of Kakuzu in a bikini advertising beer can be seen in the beach house. He gets annoyed with Hidan being lazy and cooling off in a “creepy” way (Hidan enjoying it in a way similar to his rituals). Kakuzu later joins the rest of Akatsuki in a competition to see who can keep their sparkler lit the longest. Deidara got in a fight with Tobi during the competition causing the winner to be unclear. The Akatsuki decide to have a different kind of sparkler competition with their jutsu, destroying the beach. Kakuzu and the rest of Akatsuki noticed their skin had become darker and believed it was a sign of them becoming more powerful like Pain intended. They actually just got sunburned.
In episode 51, Akatsuki teamed up with Sasuke to destroy the Leaf Village. Kakuzu was shown standing next to Konan and Pain fighting Ino, Shikamaru, and Choji. Kakuzu was shown defeated.
Abilities[]
Kakuzu possessed the Earth Grudge Fear , which composed his body of hundreds of black threads which he could use to stragle opponents, steal their hearts, or reattach or detatch his limbs. He also had four masks on his back that could use different elements as weapons.
